For the longest time, Eric and I have had a friendly argument about whether to call it “hot chocolate” or “hot cocoa.” I’m on the cocoa side because I think it sounds much cozier than “hot chocolate” and I finally got him to agree the other day while we were out and about taking in the Christmas lights at my alma mater.
I know I gave you an orange mango smoothie recipe last week, but this is the best green smoothie recipe I’ve come up with and it’s the one Eric and I drink every morning, so I wanted to share it with you!
This weekend we were busy hosting brunch for my brother-in-law’s birthday and some of my recipes got real life taste-testing experience. We devoured my paleo Dutch Baby topped with strawberry chia seed jam, scrambled eggs, sweet potato breakfast potatoes and fruit. It was delicious and a wonderful time to gather with the family.
I start nearly every workday morning with a green smoothie (weekends are for waffles and sweet potato hash!) and it has proved to be the best way for me to start my day! Filling my body with raw, nourishing, whole foods gives me a burst of energy to start on the right foot. Plus, I can guarantee I’ll get a couple of servings of fruits and veggies in before the day really even begins!
It’s that time of year when watermelon goes on sale everywhere and, because it’s such a delicious and hydrating summer treat (my husband’s favorite fruit, in fact), we’re buying it constantly.
When we went on our picnic in June, I was trying to come up with a refreshing watermelon cocktail that included several of Eric’s favorite things. We settled on watermelon, lime, mint, and gin. It was a huge hit!
Well, Bon Appetit beat me to posting this today, but we’ve been enjoying this super refreshing cucumber lemon water with basil all summer long. The idea came to me when we were planning a vegan picnic and wanted something satisfying to drink. Our basil has been growing like crazy this summer, so I thought I’d try adding it to some water with cucumber and lemon. It was a hit!
The other day, my husband and our friend, Alex, had a wonderful picnic before Music & Movies in the Park at Lake Harriet. I wanted to share the menu because it was just so yummy! You could have a lovely vegan picnic for the festivities this Fourth of July weekend!
